In a very real sense, publishing has already begun to be transformed in the twenty-first century.The widespread availability of desktop publishing and print-on-demand technology has lowered financial and technical barriers and allowed high-quality publishing to expand beyond a very few, powerful hands. Online publications widely available in purely electronic formats have further transformed publishing. Worldwide publication of works that formerly would have taken many thousands of dollars to distribute can now be effected at practically no cost. Readers and publishers alike have only begun to realize how earth-shaking these changes will be--particularly for books on Christian faith and discipleship, where works have begun to appear that formerly would not have been deemed marketable in the vanilla-custard world of the "Christian" retail industry. In this new publishing environment, many world-class Christian authors have already demonstrated a willingness to share their works online at little or no charge.

Transforming Publishing was founded to publish Bible study and preaching resources for helping Christians understand and proclaim the transforming Word of God. Electronic copies of all publications will be available free online, and hardcopy publications will be available on-demand for what we hope to be very modest prices--less expensive in many cases than users will be able to print on their own printers. Other works not falling within the core mission of Transforming Publishing, along with for-profit editing services, are being offered through our imprint, Mud Creek Publishing.

Authors writing for Transforming Publishing come from varied and sometimes divergent religious traditions. The only criteria for writing for this publishing company, however, is that an author, whatever his personal doctrine, write in a way that is first of all faithful to God's Word, and also clear and edifying for God's people.

This undertaking is not intended primarily as a moneymaking project but as a means for making high-quality Bible study and discipleship resources widely available through web downloads and hardcopy orders. While authors with Transforming Publishing should not expect to get rich from these publications, they should expect to receive modest royalties for their work. Authors for Transforming Publishing will never be charged a fee for publication, and they will receive the lion's share of all royalties.
